About me
Traveling with a Plan, Feeling & Wow Moments
Because travel doesn’t have to be stressful – it just needs to be well planned.
Do you want to experience more while traveling, without getting lost in endless tabs, half-baked tips, or unrealistic day plans?
Then you’re in the right place.
I believe that great travel comes from a balance of preparation and intuition. A clear plan that provides direction – yet leaves plenty of room for spontaneous discoveries, detours, and real wow moments.
Whether it’s a city trip, road trip, or round trip, I share honest travel tips, realistic routes, and inspiration for those who value quality without being tied to a rigid schedule.
For people who like to know where they’re going – but stay open to whatever happens along the way.
My Story: Started Late – And Never Stopped
I wasn’t the typical “born traveler.”
At 25, I left for the first time to work in England – and that’s where it all began:
spontaneous weekend trips, my first longer tours to Scotland and Ireland, a growing thirst for discovery.
Then came stops in Switzerland, Canada, and Australia – always with the goal of working to keep traveling.
I learned how to plan thoughtfully, how to let go and go with the flow – and how to balance both.
This mix shaped my way of traveling – and it’s also the foundation for this blog.
What You Can Expect Here
Since 2016, I’ve been blogging on Mandy’s Adventure World – both for fun and to make traveling easier for others.
On my blog, I share:
✔️ Road trip & round-trip itineraries that are actually doable
✔️ City trips that don’t end in a marathon
✔️ Day plans that leave space for spontaneity
✔️ Honest tips and experiences that are practical, real, and free of advertising filters
My Travel Style: Comfortable, Thoughtful, with Room for Souvenirs
Backpacking? Not really. My backpack has wheels – and I prefer sharing my room with family rather than strangers.
I travel on a budget, but I don’t skimp on comfort.
And: I pack light.
For city trips, I usually just need a backpack – with enough space for souvenirs, because I love collecting Christmas ornaments and small decor items from around the world.
What matters to me when I travel:
A clear plan, but no strict schedule
Good accommodations where I feel at home
Discoveries off the beaten path
And real memories instead of just Instagram photos
Who I am, and who this blog is for
When I say “we,” I’m usually referring to my partner Dimitri – we’ve been traveling together for over 16 years.
Since 2017, our daughter has joined us. Sometimes I travel with my cousin Ariane – and sometimes, I travel alone. Each type of travel brings its own dynamic – and new stories.
My blog is for people who, like me, travel independently: with a plan, but also a desire for something more than just tourist sites.
Why I Write This Blog
It’s simple:
Because I love planning. Because I love writing.
And because, when I research, I always stumble upon travel blogs that help me.
If my posts help you plan a route, make a decision, or simply relax – then I’ve achieved my goal.
I appreciate feedback, comments, likes, shares – and even criticism. Mandy’s Adventure World can continue growing with you.
